Our Westbrook Middle School learning community embraces all contributing members in a nurturing, mutually respectful school setting.  Our personalized and collaborative approach engages middle-level learners in a developmentally appropriate and rigorous curriculum and enables them to grow intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally.  Our cumulative instruction empowers confident, competent, and committed young learners who value continuing educational challenges.

 

   Our Mission encourages students to:

  • Recognize that all students have individual needs, abilities, and interests;
  • Discover and honor talents and aspirations;
  • Become constructive risk-taking learners;
  • Demonstrate effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving;
  • Use technologies to expand learning and to further participate in today’s society;
  • Demonstrate excellence in academic core subjects and the practical and performing arts.

 

Expectations for Academic Achievement

 

   Westbrook Middle School students will:

  • Assume an active and responsible role in the learning process;
  • Acquire proper study skills and habits;
  • Develop skills to work independently and cooperatively to increase learning;
  • Participate in a wide array of exploratory subjects;
  • Demonstrate continued academic achievement in each curriculum area.

  • Develop an appreciation of the unique value of each person;
  • Respect the rights and property of others;
  • Be reflective, taking pride in successes and learning from mistakes;
