Music Boosters Fund Raisers

Frequently Asked Questions and Information About Westbrook Music Booster Fundraising

The Westbrook Music Boosters offer fundraising opportunities throughout the school year; the amount varies based on the travel opportunities offered by the Westbrook Music Department. Students may begin to raise funds beginning in 8th grade, to be used for future trips that may be offered in high school.  Typically, a student can earn 20-40% of their total sales, depending on the product and company.  A student may participate in any and all fundraisers offered.

What can the money be used for? Earnings can be used for Music department sponsored field trips only and cannot be used for other school field trips.  Funds may also be used for concert attire cleaning fees (WHS only) at the discretion of the Music Department Directors.

Where is the money held? Funds are held by the Westbrook Music Boosters in their General Fund, released as determined by the Music Department Directors.

How can I find out how much money my child has raised? Earnings are tracked on a spread sheet that is posted in the Band (HS & MS) and Choir Rooms.  Copies are available upon request by contacting Carolyn Vallee at 860-399-0087 or cvallee@comcast.net.

Can I add to my child’s account? Unfortunately, the Westbrook Music Boosters cannot accept deposits-cash or otherwise.

When can my child use his money? Prior to all trips a payment schedule will be announced, giving students/parents the opportunity to determine what, if any, funds will be used. The Boosters then release the funds according to this schedule to either the town of Westbrook or its authorized Travel Agent only for payment. It is very important to observe the posted payment schedules and deadlines given to your child or posted on the Music Department  webpage  as we cannot refund money for any reason.

Of special note…

Seniors: Please do not raise more funds than needed. Consult with your respective Director for the anticipated  trip schedule.  If a Senior has funds remaining in their account prior to graduation they may: designate its use to a sibling or another band student.  All transfers of funds to another student require written permission from a parent/guardian or the student (if over 18 years of age).

If a student leaves the Music Program (dropped class or relocation to another school) all funds remain with the Westbrook Music Boosters.  Accounts have no cash value and cannot be paid to a departing student.
