Introducing Alert Now
Posted on 12/22/2008 by P Charles

As part of our focus on school safety and security, as well as our desire to continuously improve communication, Westbrook Public Schools is implementing the ALERTNOW parent notification system.  This service will keep you informed about emergencies, cancellations, delays, and other special events. The system can notify all the districts’ parents within minutes through any telephone or internet-enabled device. The ALERTNOW system will send a telephone or email messages directly to the phone numbers and email address you provided the school.
Below is important information about the ALERTNOW system:

• Caller ID will display the school’s main number when a general or non-emergency message is delivered.
• Caller ID will display 411 if the message is an emergency.
• ALERTNOW will leave a message on any answering machine or voicemail.
• If the ALERTNOW message stops playing, press any number from 1-9 on the phone’s keypad, and the message will replay.
• Only your primary phone number will be called for standard calls.  All listed numbers will be dialed simultaneously for emergencies.

We will use your most current information on file at the school.  If you need to update your phone numbers or email address, please contact your child’s school.
Additional information about the ALERTNOW parent notification system is provided in the FAQ document attached.

Sincerely,
Patricia Charles, Superintendent

Honored at the program were a host of local veterans including school staff who have served in the military.  Special thanks to Mr. Ken Savage for organizing the day's oberservance.  For more on this event please click here or here for the Hartford Courant coverage.  Pictured below are the oldest and youngest veterans to attend the ceremony.
